Group and swatch analytics

Analytics shows how shoppers use your product groups: how often they see a group and which swatches they click. It's available on every plan, including Free. It stays off until you turn it on.

Turn on analytics

You can turn it on in two places:

  1. On the app's home page or the Analytics page, the banner "See how shoppers use your groups" shows until you choose. Click Turn on analytics, or No thanks.
  2. Any time, go to Settings. Under Analytics, check Turn on analytics.

To turn it off, uncheck the same box in Settings. Nothing is recorded before you turn it on.

What is tracked

FD Combined Listings records two events on your product pages:

  • A group view, counted each time a product page with the group loads.
  • A swatch click, each time a shopper picks a different option in a group. Clicking the option that is already selected doesn't count.

It also records the device type (desktop, mobile or tablet) and an anonymous session, so the page can count shopper sessions.

Some things are not counted:

  • Groups on product cards, like collection pages and search results.
  • Views in the theme editor and on preview links.
  • Previews inside the app.
  • Draft groups, since they don't show on your store.

The Analytics page

Go to Analytics in the app menu and open the Product groups tab. Use the filters at the top to pick a date range (Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Last 90 days) and a device (All devices, Desktop, Mobile or Tablet). The page opens on the last 30 days, all devices.

Days follow your store's time zone. A banner at the top shows the day tracking started for your store, and your data builds up from that day. Until shoppers reach your groups, the page shows "No group activity yet".

Totals

Three tiles sum up the date range:

TileWhat it counts
Group viewsCounted on each page load
Swatch clicksOptions picked inside a group
Click rateClicks divided by views

Views and clicks per day

A line chart shows views and clicks for each day, with the number of shopper sessions that reached a group. It needs at least two days of data.

Top groups

The groups with the most clicks, up to 20, with each group's status, Group ID, Views, Clicks and Click rate. Deleted groups are left out.

Top options

The 10 options shoppers picked most, across all groups, with the group each belongs to and its click count.

Reading the numbers

  • A low click rate on a group with many views means shoppers see the swatches but rarely switch.
  • Top options shows which values, like colors, get the most interest.
  • Compare Mobile and Desktop to see if one device uses swatches less.
